Birmingham Tunnel Closures

A38 Tunnels closed 19th July – 2nd September…

As part of the Birmingham Highways Maintenance and Management Service, run by Amey and Birmingham City Council, the tunnels in Birmingham city centre need to be closed for refurbishment to improve security and safety. However, Birmingham city centre will be open, and you will find plenty of information on this website in the weeks running up to the tunnel closures to help you plan your journey into Birmingham. Alternative routes around and into the city can be found on this website, and details of alternative ways to travel around Birmingham will also be added there. The closures will affect the 40-year-old tunnels at St Chad’s and Queensway. They will be completely closed to all traffic from 19 July to 2 September. The closure will be preceded by four weeks of overnight closures, from 10pm to 6am, and followed by up to two weeks of similar overnight closures. People who work in the city centre or who visit Birmingham are being urged to consider how they travel during the six week closure period. During the closure of the 40-year-old tunnels, work will be undertaken involving structural modifications, upgrading fire protection, and improving the lighting and general appearance. Further refurbishment works including new emergency, control and communications systems are being planned for next year.

Streetbike on Tour : Bike4Life at RAF Cosford…

Sunday 21st April saw thousands of  bikers descend on RAF Cosford for this years Bike4Life event in support of raising money for Midlands Air Ambulance, we were there too…

We took, some bikes, some clothing and some parts to introduce ourselves and what we do…

It was great. We saw loads of regulars…

and loads of fresh faces too.. Star of the show was the Zero S. Incredible interest in this electric wonder, especially when Jason and I ran it round the showground a few times !

Great Day, Great Show and everyone who was there has helped to raise money for Midlands Air Ambulance.

AND if you’ve never been, RAF Cosford is a really cool place to visit.
