SUZUKI V-STROM 1000
Set to be Suzuki's most advanced adventure model ever, the V-Strom will feature a new 1037cc V-Twin engine, developed to deliver excellent low-mid range power and torque. And along with the increased power, the V-Strom returns class-leading 1000cc frugality too, with an impressive 59 MPG figure and a range of 259 miles, coming from its 20 litre fuel tank.

The V-Strom's all-new chassis provides impressive manoeuvrability and agility thanks to a Twin Spar Aluminium frame that contributes to an overall kerb mass of 228kg, some 8kg lighter than the original V-Strom 1000 and the lightest in its class.

Suzuki's lightweight ABS system is combined with new radially mounted brake callipers  providing braking performance that is as controlled as the new V-Strom's power delivery. The V-Strom 1000 also features an inverted front fork and an easy to adjust single shock style rear suspension.

To keep power in check on every type of road surface, the new V-Strom features a completely new Traction Control system developed by Suzuki's MotoGP engineers and is one of the most advanced systems ever seen on an adventure bike.

An all new luggage system was designed and tested in harmony with the V-Strom's overall development. The luggage system provides easy installation, a narrow overall width when installed, and a clean look when detached.

The Dark Side of Mucklow Hill

Rock up this Friday, 4th October, between 6pm and 8pm for a quick night ride on the new Yamaha MT-09 and XV950 Bobber…
dark side 2
The cafe will be open for drinks, burgers and hotdogs. We'll be chatting and gassing bikes. Bring a friend and both parts of your licence (essential for a ride).

It's a chance for a bit of a get together and a quick 15 min taster on two bikes we've no doubt will be class leaders in 2014. If you like what you ride, feel free to book a longer demo for another day.

Let us know if your coming, Call us on 0121 506 6800 or drop us an e-mail

In the meantime here is some info on both bikes to wet your appetites…
YAMAHA XV950…
XV950
Gotta say, for a dealership that's had sports bikes tattooed into its culture for 30 odd years, we 're all a bit excited about the new Yamaha XV950.

It's tapping into a scene we've been following for a couple of years now. If you've followed us on Facebook you'll know we've been posting pics of some gorgeous "Garage Built" creations from Iron and Air, Pipe Burn and Cafe Racer Parma amongst others. The whole Garage built / Yard built / Shed built "Retro Rocks" scene is ultra cool in the states at the moment and it's fantastic watching it grow.

So what's "Garage Built" all about?

We clocked it in 2011 and was actually moved to see what the kids were doing with bikes we used to sell in the early Eighties. Not flash bikes either. Things like Honda CB650's, Yamaha SRX600's, Kawasaki GT550's. Cheap as chips stuff. Probably a bit tatty but, at their heart, something that the Japanese have given us forever. Solid, strong, reliable motors.

They get 'em for nothing, strip 'em back to basics and then refinish 'em. But not glitzy. Industrial. It's not about form so much as making the function beautiful. Not disguising it in Candies and Pearls but emphasising it in Matt Greys, Blacks and natural metal.

Nothing there that doesn't need to be, but everything that is there is solid, durable and functional.
And the ride is end game for the function.
They're not just for looking at - although they have a radical, unique beauty of their own. They're about riding - Cool and Affordable riding. At the end of the day it's riding the bike that's the real experience. Not looking at it. "Garage Built" epitomises that spirit.
And this isn't new.
When the kids got hold of Harleys in the '60s, they stripped 'em back, junked the trinkets, slashed the weight and bought choppers and a whole new culture to the world.

In these days of austerity, Garage Built is starting to feel like the start of something similar.
Ultra cool.
The Yamaha XV950 acknowledge that. What you get is a mega quality basic, solid, rugged cycle that's stripped back to the essence of what you need to ride it - then you make it your own.

Engine is an ultra slim Black and Stainless V Twin, fuel injected and mapped for acceleration and torque. Gases exit thru a classic "tight to the bike", 2:1 exhaust system. Wheels are Retro Cool 12 spokes anchored by top stopping wavy discs. Paint is no frills industrial, White or Black

And that's where it starts. After that bolt on whatever you need to make it yours. Yamaha will be offering loads apparently. Good on 'em...but really its the prospect of what the after market guys and the new owners do with 'em that excites us.

Well done Yamaha for bringing the canvas to market…
YAMAHA MT-09…
MT09
The MT-09, it's gonna be massive…

847cc 3 Cylinder Motor.
188kg Kerb Weight.
115bhp. 63lb/ft of torque.

AND THE BEST NUMBER OF ALL - ITS ONLY £6895 on the road.
Gobs of smooth pumping torque spin out from that super smooth 120 degree triple motor. It's going to be a hoot to ride with loads of attitude.

Like they say, the MT-09 is "inspired by the Dark Side Of Japan". Having slewed through a few mental nights in Tokyo, that's a cracking thing to be inspired by. Barking mad, totally weird (Adult Cos Play anyone!) but awesome. Current best bike in this class is Triumphs’ Street Triple 675R. The MT09 weighs the same but its 900cc motor is more powerful and puts out more torque.
There's absolutely no compromise on quality.
The MT-09 is also amazingly narrow and sleek around the riders seat area. A young lady from one dealer, who's 5ft 2 and struggles with most stuff had no problem on the MT-09. That’s a big deal to a lot of people.

Yamaha are back. Big time. We seriously can't wait...
